The start of this race was delayed due to a technical issue with the starting stalls and as a result the start of this race was effected manually. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TWENTY DRACHMA'S (P Mxoli) was stubborn to load. b) DUKE OF AFRICA (M Thackeray) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) DUKE OF AFRICA (M Thackeray) came under pressure at the 1400m and gave ground to the field from the 600m. Thereafter Jockey M Thackeray reported that DUKE OF AFRICA took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) MARAUDING HORDE (C Murray) commenced to give ground to the field and was not persevered with from the 350m. Jockey C Murray appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride on MARAUDING HORDE. He explained that this gelding had come to the end of its run and tired rapidly. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeons report regarding MARAUDING HORDE, this gelding is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Trainer M De Kock will be advised. d) In the concluding stages TWENTY DRACHMA'S (P Mxoli) was directed out away from HOLDING THUMBS (S Veale) to continue its run. e) FIELD MARSHAL (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Robinson was advised (NS). f) FUTURE SWING (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer G Terzi acting on behalf of Trainer J S Snaith was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey J P v'd Merwe was the rider of SHOOT THE RAPIDS (advised 24.05.2025/13h12).
