THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 400m NATIVE RULER (J P v'd Merwe) was momentarily inconvenienced between PARISIAN WALKWAY (C Habib) and the heels of EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN (R Fourie) b) CONFEDERATE was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 14h30 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Habib was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 14h41 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently CONFEDERATE was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18.
