THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHANCE ENCOUNTER (C Orffer) and SARDINIA BAY (S Veale) were restless in the stalls. b) MAN OF CONSEQUENCE (*B Plaatjies) and GETUPANDGO (JP van der Merwe) jumped awkwardly, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) It was reported by the Clerk of Scales that the front scale was recording a discrepancy regarding the weights when jockeys weighed in. As a consequence, the jockey weights were re-checked in the weighing room. This was reported to the Racing Operator. b) MAN OF CONSEQUENCE (*B Plaatjies) took an awkward stride approaching the 1000m. c) GETUPANDGO (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging out, shifted out away from the crop at the 400m and was corrected at the 100m. d) IN A TIMELY MANNER (R Fourie) and SARDINIA BAY (S Veale) came together and brushed at the 100m. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding CHANCE ENCOUNTER (C Orffer) and SARDINIA BAY (S Veale), Trainers WA Nel and GW Ennion respectively will be advised to have these colts re-schooled prior to their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) IN A TIMELY MANNER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
