THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) RUN THE WORLD (S Veale) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Trainer AE Sands requested and was granted permission to saddle KEBONALESEDI in the holding area, accompanied by a Stipendiary Steward.
b) THOMAS JENKINS (A Fortune) jumped inwards and made contact with TOUT A FAIT (JP van der Merwe) shortly after the start.
c) ICONIC DESTINATION (C Orffer) jumped out and made contact with RUN THE WORLD (S Veale) shortly after the start.
d) ELSINORE (M Yeni) over raced in the early and middle stages.
e) Approaching the 1000m IT IS MY TIME (M Winnaar) was awkwardly placed and had to steady momentarily between the inside running rail and KEBONALESEDI (*B Plaatjies), which shifted inwards slightly.
f) At the 600m HAPPY DAYS (G Lerena) was carried inwards by ELSINORE (M Yeni) and, in this incident, HAPPY DAYS (G Lerena) and ICONIC DESTINATION (C Orffer) made contact on a number of occasions when HAPPY DAYS (G Lerena) was unbalanced for a number of strides.
In determining this matter, the Board considered the evidence of Jockeys M Yeni (ELSINORE) and G Lerena (HAPPY DAYS). It was established that ELSINORE (M Yeni) pulled hard and proved difficult to assist and as a consequence, the Board took no further action.
g) Jockey C Orffer reported that he felt something amiss with ICONIC DESTINATION. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
h) Trainer C Bass-Robinson was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that she failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of WHAT A FORTUNE. Trainer C Bass-Robinson signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00.
i) THOMAS JENKINS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer MH Maingard was advised. (SC)
