THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) and WAR SWORD (S Khathi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) POMO'S BIG SPENDER (MK Katjedi) was buffeted and had to steady momentarily between MASTER INCOLOR (*N Baboo) and GLOBAL BANKER (E Webber), which jumped sharply outwards shortly after the start. In this incident BLUE PALACE (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between ANCHOR MAN (G Wright) and POMO'S BIG SPENDER (MK Katjedi). b) ONLY A POET (*N Nastili) was buffeted on a number of occasions between POMO'S BIG SPENDER (MK Katjedi) and FUTURE OF ENERGY (C Zackey), which shifted inwards leaving the 400m. In this incident, the hindquarters of POMO'S BIG SPENDER (MK Katjedi) were turned inwards and FUTURE OF ENERGY became unbalanced for a number of strides, shortened its stride and was not persevered with by Jockey C Zackey. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that FUTURE OF ENERGY changed stride in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) WINTER EMERALDS (R Fourie) shifted inwards away from the crop at the 150m and was immediately corrected. d) ONLY A POET (*N Nastili) commenced to hang inwards from the 150m. e) GLOBAL BANKER (E Webber) shifted outward away from the crop from approximately the 100m. f) SAMTHEWISEMAN (J Gates) raced wide without cover on the bend and into the straight. g) Jockey C Habib reported that LIGHT OF DAY did not stride out freely in running. h) WINTER EMERALDS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
