THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVERY SURFER (C Habib) rushed the front gate, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. b) AUGUSTA ROSSO (X Ndlovu) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BAROLO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Assistant Trainer F Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) BAROLO (C Zackey) over raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that the saddle slipped forward in running. This was confirmed by the patrol film. c) SILVA CITY (K Minnie) was hanging in from the 500m. d) GOLDEN PALM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
