The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SURJAY (L Mxothwa) was stubborn to load. Trainer J Crawford will be advised to reschool this gelding. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) ZIYASHA (R Danielson) after being slow away was bumped out by O'TENIKWA (S Moodley) which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. Thereafter ZIYASHA (R Danielson) proved difficult to settle and did not finish its race off strongly. Jockey R Danielson reported that ZIYASHA changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey G Lerena reported that WINDS OF CHANGE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockeys C Murray (CATS PAJAMAS) and R Fourie (FAIRY KNIGHT) reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of PISTOL PETE (C Maujean) (11.95 lengths, 33/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) An Inquiry will be opened into Jockey S Khumalos's (KING OF THE GAULS) crop use in this race. f) TENANGO (A Fortune), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
