THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) OLIVER TWIST (S Naidoo) jumped awkwardly.
b) PEDRO (C Maujean) and ROTOTO (D Schwarz) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) PYROMANIAC recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b) GOLD GUNNER recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
c) GOLD GUNNER (L Mxothwa) was hanging in from the 400m.
d) KING'S RANSOM (*B Plaatjies), which was hanging in, shifted in from approximately the 300m and was corrected at the 100m.
e) Jockey S Naidoo reported that the saddle on OLIVER TWIST, which took an awkward stride at the 50m, slipped forward in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f) Jockey C Little reported that PYROMANIAC made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
g) Trainer K Mitchley was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that she failed to vaccinate CANFORD'S BEAUTY against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer K Mitchley signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
h) KING'S RANSOM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
