THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, it was advised that dogs were running loose on the track in the pull-up area. In the interests of safety, the horses were unloaded until the dogs could be safely secured, causing a delay. b) ZATARA MAGIC (C Zackey) was nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. c) JOY AND PEACE (K Minnie) and GLOBAL ALLY (X Ndlovu) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MY BEST SHOT recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer AC Greeff was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) ZATARA MAGIC (C Zackey), which jumped awkwardly, made contact with GLOBAL ALLY (X Ndlovu) on a number of occasions shortly after the start. c) JOY AND PEACE (K Minnie) was hanging in from the 500m. d) Apprentice B Plaatjies reported that HAROLD THE DUKE failed to respond to his urgings in the straight. He, however, rode his mount hands and heels across the finish line The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. e) Apprentice I Taka reported that MISTER SPEAKER did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. f) MY BEST SHOT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
