THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RICH FOLKS HOAX (C Zackey) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Leaving the 150m PLUS FOUR (M Yeni) was brushed on two occasions by STARS IN HEAVEN (S Khumalo) which was carried out marginally by GO GRAYSON GO (S Moodley) which rolled out. c) Jockey S Veale reported that TYRCONNELL made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockeys M Yeni (PLUS FOUR) and A Mgudlwa (JP'S PALACE) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey N Patel signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, Appendix E, (Guideline 3), in that he mis-used his crop by striking EL DANTE forward of the saddle in the latter stages. Accordingly a penalty of a fine of R1000 was issued. f) EL DANTE (N Patel), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey J Jacobs (RUN FOR COVER) weighed out at 54.9kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. b) Jockey C Little (HAT'S PRIDE) weighed out at 58.1kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) TYRCONNELL : Not striding out right front and respiratory noise. b) PLUS FOUR : Post-race distress. c) JP'S PALACE : Post-race distress.
