THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BROOKSIDER (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls. b) MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY (K Minnie) stood awkwardly in the stalls. c) AMERICAN PITBULL (S Fortune) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GRAND ALLEGRO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) AMERICAN PITBULL jumped awkwardly and threw its head down, which resulted in Jockey S Fortune briefly losing his left-side stirrup iron and becoming unbalanced for a number of strides shortly after the start. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with TIBBOTT BOURKE, which raced wide without cover on the bend and into the straight. As a consequence, Jockey C Zackey did not persevere with his riding of TIBBOTT BOURKE from the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report regarding TIBBOTT BOURKE, this gelding is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Assistant Trainer DG Smith will be advised. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. d) TAKE A MULLIGAN (*H Moosun), which was hanging out on the bend, raced wide and was hanging out in the straight. e) Jockey L Mxothwa reported that BROOKSIDER coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey K Minnie reported that MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Trainer Z Oosthuizen was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate FIZZLY BUBBLY against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer Z Oosthuizen signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00. h) GRAND ALLEGRO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
