THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STRATA (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly inwards. b) JAMBO SANA (S Naidoo) jumped awkwardly. c) BOMBER GIRL (*N Nastili), POLYNOMIAL (C Zackey) and SHARAPOVA (K Minnie) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) THREAD OF LIFE (MK Katjedi) was hanging in from the 400m. b) STRATA (R Fourie) was struck on the muzzle by the crop of Apprentice N Baboo (SEE YOU IN A BIT) at approximately the 100m. c) JAMBO SANA (S Naidoo) was baulked for a clear run at the 150m and had to switch out at the 100m to obtain clear running. d) Apprentice N Baboo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking SEE YOU IN A BIT in front of the saddle at the 300m. Apprentice N Baboo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) Apprentice N Baboo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SEE YOU IN A BIT he misused his crop by striking SEE YOU IN A BIT more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Apprentice N Baboo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. f) SHARAPOVA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
