THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 2000m KING BAVARIAN (*J Botes) was steadied to avoid running onto the heels of RICHARDTHEFEARLESS (M Yeni) which rolled in. b) At the 1200m BAD MEDICINE (G Lerena) was bumped on two occasions by RICHARDTHEFEARLESS (M Yeni) which rolled out when steadied to avoid running onto the heels of KING CELTILLUS (*M Mbuto). c) Approaching the 250m KING BAVARIAN (*J Botes) was brushed on a number of occasions by BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) which shifted out. Thereafter approaching the 150m KING BAVARIAN (*J Botes) was checked and lost position to avoid the heels of BASIE RAAKVAT (N Patel) which showed a tendency to hang out and then shifted out away from the crop. d) Jockey N Patel was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of BASIE RAAKVAT, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to KING BAVARIAN (*J Botes) approaching the 150m. Jockey N Patel signed an admission of guilt and was given a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days. (Suspension dates to be advised). e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with ARTIC SILVER in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of RICHARDTHEFEARLESS (M Yeni) which commenced to give ground from the 200m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) ESCAPOLOGIST (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
