THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BLIND DATE was fractious in the stalls, jumped awkwardly as the start was effected and unbalanced Jockey M Yeni.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, BLACK EAGLE (S Veale) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b) The Stewards reviewed the start with regard to BLIND DATE (M Yeni) in stall gate 5 and established that this horse had been fractious in the stalls, had not been impeded in any way and took no further action.
c) WIZARDING WORLD (C Bantam) was carried out by NOMORE BULLETS (M Winnaar), which shifted outwards sharply at approximately the 450m.
Jockey M Winnaar was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of NOMORE BULLETS, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WIZARDING WORLD at the 450m. Jockey M Winnaar signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 22/06/2025 to 28/06/2025, both dates inclusive)
d) At approximately the 200m PRITTI UNITED (*S Bungani) had to steady off the heels of PRINCE OF EGYPT (JP van der Merwe) and was switched out to obtain clear running.
e) PRINCE OF EGYPT (JP van der Merwe) and BLIND DATE (M Yeni) bumped on two occasions between the 150m and the 50m.
f) Jockey D Ashby reported that IGNITE THE FIRE did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report regarding IGNITE THE FIRE, this colt is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Trainer PP Kruyer was advised.
g) SAUDI CAT (ARG), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (SC)
