FIRST KNIGHT was nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length. ASCENDING HEIGHTS was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. HALLELUJAH was slow into stride. After the running of this race Jockey Agrella was stood down by the Course Medical Officer on duty, (Influenza). Jockey Fayd'Herbe signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with the Guidelines on overweight, in that he was unable to weigh out at the weight confirmed in his riding engagement to ride PINCH POT for Trainer G Paddock. A penalty of a fine was imposed. Jockey Mxothwa reported that he felt something amiss with MASTEROFTHEPARTY in the running and he did not persevere with his ride from the 1000m. Jockey Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with BLAZING PACE in the running and did not persevere with his ride from the 400m. The saddle on ASCENDING HEIGHTS's slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the Starter. When afforded the opportunity to explain the improved performance of PINCH POT, Trainer Paddock told the Stewards that this was this gelding's first run on a Polytrack and the fitting of blinkers accounted for his improvement. Trainer Paddock was advised to race this gelding on similar surface where possible and equipped in the same manner in future. PINCH POT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. BLAZING PACE raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: MASTEROFTHEPARTY - lame left fore. BLAZING PACE - coughed post-race. ASCENDING HEIGHTS - abnormal respiratory noise.
