THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUE QUARTZ (+X C Machaieie) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) PHIL THE FLUTER (+P Mongqawa) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls, resulting in Work Rider P Mongqawa losing balance momentarily. c) BATTLE OFTHE BULGE (+S Dwayana) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BATTLE OFTHE BULGE (+S Dwayana) and ENCHANTED ROYAL (+J Bessel) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. b) At approximately the 100m, NEW LIFE (+S Mkhumbuzi) had to ease and switch in to avoid the heels of MYSTIC VISION (+C Mabaya), which shifted in away from the crop. Work Rider C Mabaya was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of MYSTIC VISION, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NEW LIFE (+S Mkhumbuzi) when he shifted in at approximately the 100m. Work Rider C Mabaya signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in one (1) Work Rider race. Suspension date: 3 July 2025. c) Work Rider T Lukhele reported that GIFT OF ROYAL changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Work Rider X C Machaieie reported that BLUE QUARTZ did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) PHIL THE FLUTER (+P Mongqawa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Klaasen advised (MS). WORK RIDER CHANGES: a) BATTLE OFTHE BULGE: Work Rider S Dwayana weighed out at 53,6kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) NEW LIFE raced equipped with blinkers (declared 17 June 2025 at 11H13). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GIFT OF ROYAL not striding out right front. b) BLUE QUARTZ lame left front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. BLUE QUARTZ is required to perform a gallop to the satisfaction of the NHA veterinary department prior to her next engagement.
