THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ESSENTIAL (L Mxothwa) was reluctant to proceed to the start and had to be assisted by a handler, causing a delay. This filly is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.4 until such time as she proves tractable proceeding to the start on a race day. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised. b) ESSENTIAL (L Mxothwa), BACK FOR MORE (K Minnie) and TREASURE HUNT (S Veale) were nervous in the stalls. c) WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ESSENTIAL over raced in the early and middle stages. Thereafter, Jockey L Mxothwa reported that this filly tired quickly and he did not persevere with his riding from the 100m to the finish. Jockey L Mxothwa appeared before the Board and was advised that although he had reported his mount tired quickly, he is still required to ride his mount, at least hands and heels, across the finish line. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report regarding ESSENTIAL, this filly is suspended in terms of Rule 49.7 and a Veterinary Certificate is required prior to racing. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised. Assistant Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. b) EPIKLEROS (M Yeni) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of ROSE OF BAYEUX (J Gates) and SUN SPECTACULAR (*B Plaatjies), which shifted slightly outwards. In this instance, EPIKLEROS (M Yeni) and ROSE OF BAYEUX (J Gates) made contact for a number of strides. On viewing the patrol film, the Board could not attribute blame to any particular Rider, due to the strong cross-wind and the slight outward movement from SUN SPECTACULAR (*B Plaatjies). c) HEART PEAKS (MK Katjedi) was hanging in from the 300m, shifted inwards and made slight contact with WALKONTHEWILDSIDE (R Fourie) at the 50m. d) ENCHANTING CHOICE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (SP) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) EPIKLEROS raced with blinkers (declared 13h57 on 20250618) b) S Veale rode TREASURE HUNT (declared 15h38 on 20250620) (Jockey D Schwarz unable to make the carded weight as the sweat box was not working) c) A Fortune (GRANDIOSA) rode +1kg of which 0.5kg was carded (55.1kgs) d) *B Plaatjies (SUN SPECTACULAR) only claimed 2kg of his allowance (51.6kgs) RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ESSENTIAL - examined post-race.
