THE STARTER REPORTED: a) REPETITION (C Zackey) was stubborn loading and slow into stride. b) TOTHEMOONANDBACK (J Solomons) jumped slow, losing one length. c) HELIOTROPE (A Fortune) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NOBLE HERO recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer D McLachlan was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) At the 250m NOBLE HERO (M Winnaar) was steadied briefly when tightened for galloping room between REPETITION (C Zackey) and AHEAD OF THE FACTS (M Yeni), which shifted out slightly. c) For a short distance approaching the 300m, ARIOVISTUS (R Fourie) raced in restricted galloping room between the inside running rail and WOOD WORLD (G Lerena). d) Jockey G van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with JET A ONE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) Jockey M Winnaar reported that, in his opinion, the performance of NOBLE HERO was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of REPETITION (C Zackey), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the performance of PROFESSOR SNAPE (S Veale), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) ARIOVISTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
