EQUIFEEDS CLASS 4 (F & M) (For Fillies & Mares. Benchmark at 60.0kg = 80)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) On arriving at the start Jockey C Zackey expressed concern with AMERICAN ULTRA's action while proceeding to the start. This filly was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) COLD BREEZE (JP van der Merwe) was stubborn loading. c) MARITZBURG MEMORY (S Veale) jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 200m MARITZBURG MEMORY (S Veale) was briefly held up on the heels of RIKKITIKKITAVI (C Orffer), which shifted in when it received some pressure from SHESGOTCLASS (M Winnaar). b) Jockey C Orffer reported that in his opinion, RIKKITIKKITAVI, which was hanging out in the latter stages, did not enjoy the soft underfoot conditions. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that POCKET DIAL did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the performances of COLD BREEZE (JP van der Merwe) and TOKYO PRINCESS (K Steyn), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding COLD BREEZE (JP van der Merwe), Trainer AN Marcus will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. f) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking MARITZBURG MEMORY in front of the saddle at the 100m. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. g) Jockey O Noach was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking CAPTAIN'S DESTINY in front of the saddle on two occasions between the 150m and the finish. Jockey O Noach signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000.00. h) MARITZBURG MEMORY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
