SUMMER CUP 29 NOVEMBER MIDDLE STAKES (For horses with nett rating of 105 and below)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) HAWKBILL (C Zackey) and TOWERS OF GOLD (P Mxoli) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) BREEZE OVER (*K J Lihaba) and LA MOOHAL (G Lerena) were slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, Jockey C Murray (SILENT WAR) lost the footing to his left-side stirrup iron, which he only regained at the 1800m. b) At approximately the 1800m, PLAYER (*T Mayhew) had to ease off the heels of VESUVIO (*N Nastili), which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice N Nastili was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that he, as the rider of VESUVIO, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PLAYER (*T Mayhew) when he shifted in at approximately the 1800m. Apprentice N Nastili signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days. Suspension dates: 5 July 2025 to 11 July 2025 (both days inclusive). c) JORDAN (C Maujean) hung in in the concluding stages. d) Shortly before the finish line, KING'S EXPRESS (M Yeni) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of VESUVIO (*N Nastili), which shifted out away from the crop. e) Jockey G Lerena reported that he felt something amiss with LA MOOHAL in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Jockey P Mxoli reported that TOWERS OF GOLD did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of HAWKBILL, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R4000 was imposed. h) HAWKBILL (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PLAYER raced with a tongue tie on (declared 20 June 2025 at 09H57). b) LA MOOHAL raced equipped with blinkers (declared 20 June 2025 at 19H45). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LA MOOHAL not striding out left hind and right front. b) TOWERS OF GOLD lame left front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies.
