MAGIC BLAZE was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow into stride. DUSTED DONUT stumbled shortly after the start. As the loading process for Race 2 commenced, JUST AS RICH reared over and fell and was subsequently scratched by the Veterinary Surgeon. Apprentice Juglall reported that the saddle on AFTERNOON TEA slipped back in running, which was confirmed by the Stipendiary Board. Leaving the 300m MASTER OF DISGUISE, which rolled in when coming to the end of its run, had to steady off the heels of KARNALLIE which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. From the 250m to the 100m PHINDA MZALA was carried out significantly by MAGIC BLAZE, which shifted out continuously away from the crop. Apprentice Klink signed an Admission of Guilt for contravention in that he, as the rider of MAGIC BLAZE, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PHINDA MZALA when he shifted out at the 250m. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. Jockey Zackey reported that KARNALLIE did not stride out freely in running. PORTICO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PHINDA MZALA raced unshod. Vet: KARNALLIE - coughing; abnormal respiratory noise; not striding out left hind. PORTICO - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: JUST AS RICH - injured behind the stalls.
