THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VIXENINTHEVINEYARD (K Steyn) was restless in the stalls. b) LUCKY THIRTEEN (O Noach) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) GIMME THE BEST (JP van der Merwe) and GREENLIGHT JET (J Solomons) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BEAUTIFUL SIDE (*B Plaatjies) over raced in the early stages. b) Approaching the 1200m MOMENT OF TRUTH (G van Niekerk) was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position. c) Jockey JP van der Merwe (GIMME THE BEST) dropped his crop at the 300m. d) When questioned regarding his riding of HOKUSAI, which was not persevered with in the latter stages, Jockey A Arries told the Stewards that this gelding had choked up in running. Jockey A Arries was reminded of his obligation to report anything that may have affected his mounts in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) MOMENT OF TRUTH (G van Niekerk) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers) f) HOW RIGHT YOU ARE (A Fortune) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers) g) Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on MONEY EXTRACTOR, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. h) MONEY EXTRACTOR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D McLachlan was advised.
