En route to the start THE GHOST cast the left front shoe which was replaced by the course farrier at the start. This filly was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. This caused a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VICTOR HUGO (G Lerena) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) VICTOR HUGO (G Lerena) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) ROOSTER BRADSHAW (S Khumalo) and VICTOR HUGO (G Lerena) raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. c) Jockey M Yeni reported that THE GHOST did not stride out freely in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) ROOSTER BRADSHAW (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells was advised (SP).
