THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AETHELWULF (*I Taka) was nervous in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race. b) QUICK CROWN (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading and jumped awkwardly. c) TOWER OF LONDON (C Little) and WILD FIG (R Fourie) were nervous in the stalls. d) OLIVE OYL (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. e) HALF MOON ISLAND (M van Rensburg) and THE QUAICH (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) HALF MOON ISLAND recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer WGC Miller was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. c) TOWER OF LONDON (C Little) over raced in the early stages. d) HALF MOON ISLAND (M van Rensburg) raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight. e) QUICK CROWN (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 600m and was corrected at the 300m. f) WILD FIG (R Fourie) and OLIVE OYL (K Minnie) were hanging in from the 400m and were corrected at the 100m. g) TOWER OF LONDON (C Little) was switched out to obtain clear running leaving the 300m. h) PICK A POMODORO (C Zackey) shifted inwards sharply away from the crop at the 150m. i) Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of QUICK CROWN, he failed to ride QUICK CROWN out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey D Schwarz signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. j) Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of AETHELWULF, he failed to ride AETHELWULF out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards.
