THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO KAVOMOLKA (K A BREWER) AND SASSY LASSIE (*T MAYHEW) PROVING STUBBORN LOADING AS WELL AS FOREVER CANFORD (J GATES) REFUSING TO LOAD AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) FOREVER CANFORD (J Gates) refused to load. The starting stall certificate for this colt has been withdrawn. Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised (GT).
b) KAVOMOLKA (K A Brewer) and SASSY LASSIE (*T Mayhew) were stubborn loading.
c) JIKELELE (C Habib) was restless in the stalls.
d) ABBEY SNIPER (K Matsunyane) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that SASSY LASSIE changed stride continually in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to FOREVER CANFORD, this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 29 June 2025 to 5 July 2025. FOREVER CANFORD may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised.
c) Shortly before the finish line, Jockey P Mxoli (THE LAST DUKE) placed his crop in his mouth. Jockey P Mxoli appeared before the Board and was advised against this practice going forward.
d) THE LAST DUKE (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
