THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OKAVANGO (A Fortune) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : b) OKAVANGO (A Fortune) raced wide into the straight. c) At the 300m NATIVE RULER (T Godden) was steadied and switched in to continue its run off the heels of ATTICUS FINCH (C Habib) which commenced to give ground to the field. d) Jockey C Habib reported that he felt something amiss with ATTICUS FINCH in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ATTICUS FINCH, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. (Suspension dates : 06.07.2025 - 03.09.2025 bdi). Trainer A G Laird was advised. f) In view of the performances of CONFEDERATE (W Kennedy) (14.75 lengths, 20/1 in the betting) and LITIGATION (G van Niekerk) (13.95 lengths, 66/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4 in that as the rider of LITIGATION, he weighed in more than 1kg above the weight at which he was declared out at. Jockey van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and a penalty of a fine of R2500 was imposed. h) THE REAL PRINCE (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Kannemeyer was advised (RvR). i) EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer G Terzi acting on behalf of Trainer J S Snaith was advised (SP). j) SELUKWE (S Moodley), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
