THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Leaving the 1400m MINOGUE (C Zackey) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of DOUBLE GRAND SLAM (A Fortune). b) At the 350m MON PETIT CHERIE (R Fourie) was switched out off the heels of JUST BE LEKKER (S Moodley). This led to light contact between FATAL FLAW (P Strydom) which commenced to give ground and ASIYE PHAMBILI (S Veale) which received some pressure from BEATING WINGS (C Habib) which shifted in slightly. The Stewards, in assessing this incident determined that there were circumstances involved and therefore took no further action. c) RASCOVA (G Lerena) hung out from the 300m. d) JUST BE LEKKER (S Moodley) hung in from the 250m and was steadied when close to the heels of DOUBLE GRAND SLAM (A Fortune) from the 200m to the 100m. e) In view of the performance of FATAL FLAW (15.35 lengths, 8/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. f) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E, Guideline B), in that he hit RASCOVA with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey Lerena signed an admission of guilt and a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. g) Jockey A Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.9.1 in that as the rider of DOUBLE GRAND SLAM, he removed his skull cap on two occasions upon entering the winner's enclosure. Jockey A Fortune signed an admission of guilt and a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. h) DOUBLE GRAND SLAM (A Fortune), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Jonathan Snaith acting on behalf of Trainer J S Snaith was advised (RvR). i) MON PETIT CHERIE (R Fourie), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised (SP). j) RASCOVA (G Lerena), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry was advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) RASCOVA raced equipped with ear muffs (advised 03.07.2025/07h16). b) BEATING WINGS raced equipped with cheek pieces (advised 28.06.2025/15h24).
