THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OPERA FAN (C Habib) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) HARPA (T Godden), OMNIA (K Matsunyane), CASSANDRA (C Little) and INVICTUS JET (*J Botes) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) OMNIA (K Matsunyane) and INVICTUS JET (*J Botes) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) HARPA (T Godden) hung out in the final straight. c) OMNIA (K Matsunyane) hung in from the 200m and tired rapidly in the concluding stages. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M). in that he as the rider of CASSANDRA misused his crop by striking this filly more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Little signed an admission of guilt and a penalty of a fine of R5000 was imposed. e) OPERA FAN (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
