THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO LAZER LIGHT (*K J LIHABA) PROVING INTRACTABLE CANTERING TO THE START AND SUBSEQUENTLY BEING SCRATCHED. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WINTER BELLE (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls and thereafter slow, losing one length. b) AMAZE ME (K Matsunyane) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LAZER LIGHT (*K J Lihaba) was unruly and refused to canter to the start. This filly is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4 until re-passed tractable cantering with a companion on a raceday. Trainer W H Marwing advised (RH). b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that in the concluding stages, WINTER BELLE tired, shortened her stride, and was not striding out freely. This precluded him from riding WINTER BELLE out to the end of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) RED HOT KISSES (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) EMPRESS WU was ridden by Jockey C Murray (declared 8 July 2025 at 16H43). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LAZER LIGHT was carded to race equipped with a compression mask, steel shoes in front and unshod behind (declared 8 July 2025 at 09H02). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WINTER BELLE not striding out left front; fatigued. b) AMAZE ME bilateral nasal discharge. c) EMPRESS WU coughing post race.
