THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IGUGULETHU (C Maujean) was stubborn loading. b) FOUR JACKS (S Naidoo) rushed the front gates and jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) PROTECT THE DREAM (S Khathi), OLIVER TWIST (*I Taka) and CAPTAIN TIK TOK (Y Ramzan) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) CHILI BOMB (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 450m and was straightened at the 150m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. b) Jockey C Habib reported that PYROMANIAC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) Jockey S Naidoo reported that he felt something amiss with FOUR JACKS. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performances of ALWAYS SHINING (*J Botes) and OLIVER TWIST (*I Taka), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. Trainer L Gila (ALWAYS SHINING) and Assistant Trainer DG Smith (OLIVER TWIST) were advised to report back should they find anything amiss with these geldings on their return to the stables. e) Apprentice J Botes was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of ALWAYS SHINING, he failed to ride ALWAYS SHINING out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Apprentice J Botes signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. f) Apprentice I Taka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that as the rider of OLIVER TWIST, he failed to ride OLIVER TWIST out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Apprentice I Taka signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. g) Jockey C Little was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on GRAND ALLEGRO, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey C Little signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. h) ELSINORE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised.
