The start of this Race was delayed due to WYLIE'S WONDER being injured in the stalls and subsequently being withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. WYLIE'S WONDER caught right hind leg in stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. DANCE TEAM and MISSION BEACH lost 1 length, respectively. IRISH PEARL fly jumped leaving the stalls. At the 400m, IRISH PEARL and SIBERIAN SUNSET were carried in by BACCINO, which rolled in. In view of the performance of CAPTIVE GOLD the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer Howells was requested to report back on the condition of this filly on return to stables. Jockey Kennedy reported that RUBY COVE did not stride out freely in the running. Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse MISSION BEACH more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Veale, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey Veale struck the horse MISSION BEACH, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of was imposed. RISE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The change of ownership of WYLIE'S WONDER should read: Gareth van Zyl Racing Stables (Pty) Ltd; and the Colour are: Navy blue, light pink stripe, armbands, collar and cuffs light pink peak. Vet: CAPTIVE GOLD - nothing obvious detected. RUBY COVE - not striding out right fore. Mild post race distress. Scratched: WYLIE'S WONDER - injured in the stalls and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
