During the loading process VICTOR RAIL (A Mgudlwa) and TEEREX (C Habib) became restless in the stalls. These geldings were released from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of this race.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) VICTOR RAIL (A Mgudlwa) and TEEREX (C Habib) became restless in the stalls. These geldings were released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) MANEKI NEKO (*D D Louw) jumped awkwardly outwards leaving the starting stalls bumping TEEREX (C Habib). Thereafter MAKEKI NEKO (*D D Louw) commenced to race fiercely in the early and middle stages, proving difficult to assist and made contact with the inside running rail at the 900m.
b) LITTLEBLACKGEM (*B Plaatjies) over-raced in the early and middle stages and as a result, raced in advance of the field.
c) Approaching the 200m GAELIC DANCER (G Lerena) which hung in from the 300m, was switched to the outside of LOU LOU THE LEGEND (S Veale) to continue its run.
d) In the concluding stages TEEREX (C Habib) was eased in anticipation of the available run closing between the inside running rail and ONE IRISH ROVER (*B Marx-Jacobson) which rolled in. Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson (ONE IRISH ROVER) appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to exercise more care.
e) Jockey M V'Rensburg reported that MUSIC IS LIFE did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
f) LOU LOU THE LEGEND (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Ryan acting for Trainer M J Odendaal was advised (SP).
