THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TOP DOLLAR (MK Katjedi) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 250m, STORMSTRIDE (S Naidoo) was carried outwards slightly by PIBE DE ORO (*J Botes), which was hanging outwards. b) PROLIFIC STAR (Y Ramzan) had to be eased when awkwardly placed between PARDON ME (C Little), which shifted inwards slightly and PIBE DE ORO (*J Botes), which was hanging outwards from the top of the straight. In this incident PIBE DE ORO (*J Botes) and PROLIFIC STAR (Y Ramzan) made contact at the 150m. An objection was lodged by Assistant Trainer DG Smith on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, the Trainer of the 3rd-placed horse PROLIFIC STAR (Y Ramzan) against the 2nd-placed horse PIBE DE ORO (*J Botes) on the grounds of interference at the 150m. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol films, listening to the evidence given by both parties and giving consideration of the margin of 1,50 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that PROLIFIC STAR (Y Ramzan) would not have finished ahead of PIBE DE ORO (*J Botes) had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection. The deposit was refunded. c) PARDON ME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM) d) PIBE DE ORO, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
