THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLOUDS CLEARING (M Yeni) was restless in the stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. b) SPECIAL GLAMOUR (C Orffer) was hanging out in the straight. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that PACIFIC WATERS changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey JP van der Merwe reported that he felt something amiss with RED TAFFETY. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) The Stewards questioned Apprentice B Plaatjies in the presence of his Riding Master with regard to his apparent lack of vigour in his riding of LOUI'S STAR in the straight. He told the Stewards that the filly had been hanging out and he had had to correct her on two occasions. He further pointed out that SPECIAL GLAMOUR (C Orffer), which was racing ahead of him and to his inside, was hanging out and shifted out slightly. He was further mindful that he was racing on the inside of PACIFIC WATERS (G Lerena) and he was concerned that had he been more vigorous, his mount may have shifted out. The Stewards accepted this explanation and Apprentice Plaatjies was advised to ride his mounts with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave no room for query. f) APRICITY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised.
