THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 400m WINTER RAINFALL (G van Niekerk) was directed inwards away from the heels of I'M SO PRITTI (JP van der Merwe) and made slight contact with the hindquarters of TRIP TO MAPUTO (A Domeyer). b) At the 300m FESTIVAL CHIC (C Murray) was unbalanced when it made contact with the inside running rail when racing in restricted galloping room on the heels of MISS WORLD (C Orffer), which shifted inwards. Jockeys C Murray and C Orffer were questioned with regard to this incident and were shown the patrol film from various angles. The Stewards advised both Riders that there were circumstances surrounding this incident but they should ensure that there they are sufficiently clear before shifting ground. They were further advised that when an available run is identified to ensure there is sufficient room to improve, in similar circumstances, in the interests of Rider safety and horse welfare. c) Jockey S Veale (BABELICIOUS) got his crop entangled in his reins between the 200m and the finish, placing him at a disadvantage. d) Jockey G van Niekerk (WINTER RAINFALL) got his crop entangled in his reins in the concluding stages. e) Jockeys S Veale (BABELICOUS) and A Domeyer (TRIP TO MAPUTO) reported that, in their opinion, these fillies did not act in the heavy underfoot conditions. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) FESTIVAL CHIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised.
