THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GLOBAL STATE (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) GLOBAL STATE recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer D McLachlan, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b) COASTAL COMMANDER (S Veale) pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
c) Jockey O Noach reported that WATERBERRY LANCE coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
WATERBERRY LANE (O Noach) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days (2nd episode) from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. d) In view of the performance of THE GREY KING (JP van der Merwe), which was not persevered with from the 150m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this gelding is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer SJ Snaith will be advised.
e) Trainer D McLachlan was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented GLOBAL STATE incorrectly equipped in the parade ring. Trainer D McLachlan, as the person that was acting for the Trainer of GLOBAL STATE (Mr GD Smith), signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250.00
f) SUGAR MOUNTAIN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (SC)
