THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AETHELWULF (*B Plaatjies) was restless in the stalls. b) WILD FIG (R Fourie) was nervous in the stalls. c) PIBE DE ORO (X Ndlovu) was nervous in the stalls, reared and jumped awkwardly. d) BIRD ON A WING (X Ndlovu) jumped outwards. e) GO DANCING (*N Nastili) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start GO DANCING (*N Nastili) was buffeted between PIBE DE ORO (X Ndlovu), which jumped awkwardly and BIRD ON A WING (C Habib), which jumped outwards. b) BIRD ON A WING (C Habib) was hanging out on the bend and raced wide into the straight. c) WILD FIG (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 300m. d) PYRO EDITION (K Steyn), which was hanging in, shifted inwards away from the crop at the 300m and was corrected at the 100m. e) Apprentice B Plaatjies reported that AETHELWULF made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this colt on his return to the stables. f) In view of the performance of CEDARPEAK (*J Botes), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) WILD FIG, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
