THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHAMPAGNE MAC (*B Plaatjies) was restless in the stalls and jumped inwards. b) BLACK PATH (K Steyn) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being restless in the stalls CHAMPAGNE MAC (*B Plaatjies) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with BLACK PATH (K Steyn). As a consequence, Apprentice B Plaatjies became unbalanced and lost his footing to his right-side iron. While attempting to regain his irons, the saddle on CHAMPAGNE MAC slipped sideways and Apprentice B Plaatjies was unable to assist CHAMPAGNE MAC for the remainder of the race. b) In view of the report from the Starter regarding CHAMPAGNE MAC (*B Plaatjies), Trainer PAW Botha will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. c) Apprentice V Jodhee (SANSA STARK) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. d) WHY NOT JACKIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
