THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 1100m MIRACULOUS (JP van der Merwe), which proved difficult to settle in the early stages, was steadied in anticipation of running onto the heels of GOODNESSGRACIOUSME (C Zackey). Jockey JP van der Merwe was interviewed regarding this incident and told the Stewards that he was satisfied that GOODNESSGRACIOUSME (C Zackey) was sufficiently clear when this incident occurred. b) Jockey O Noach reported that GLEE CLUB changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of KAMCHATKA he misused his crop by striking KAMCHATKA more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey C Orffer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) SWIATEK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
