THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLD DUST (K Steyn) jumped outwards. b) LANDOFTHERISINGSUN (R Fourie) and PLEASE BE TRUE (JP van der Merwe) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m PLEASE BE TRUE (JP van der Merwe) was held up for a number of strides and directed outwards when close to the heels of SAN PEDRO (*B Plaatjies), which shifted in away from CAPTAIN WEST (L Mxothwa). After reviewing this incident, the Stewards were satisfied that both Apprentice B Plaatjies (SAN PEDRO) and Jockey L Mxothwa (CAPTAIN WEST) had taken the necessary measures to straighten their mounts immediately. b) Jockey C Zackey reported that VOORLOOPERTJIE was blowing post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the performance of AIR RAID (A Domeyer), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Apprentice B Plaatjies was charged with a contravention of Rule 21.7 in that he accepted to ride both SAN PEDRO and GOLD DUST in Race 6. Apprentice B Plaatjies signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. e) CAPTAIN WEST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J Crawford was advised.
