THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SUNSET RIOT (C Habib) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
b) WHAFEEF (J Penny) and STREWN SKY (*M Mbuto) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At approximately the 500m, GRAND CRESCENDO, which commenced to hang in was corrected by Apprentice T Mayhew, was directed outwards and, as a consequence, SUNSET RIOT (C Habib) and FRENCH BOLT (K Matsunyane) were carried out. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, PASSAGE OF POWER was bumped in by GRAND CRESCENDO (*T Mayhew), which continued to hang in. Apprentice T Mayhew was unable to fully assist his mount to the end of the race whilst attempting to straighten this gelding on a number of occasions. This gelding is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until such time as he proves tractable racing on a straight course on a Raceday. Trainer C Dawson was advised (RH).
b) In view of the performance of GRAND CRESCENDO (*T Mayhew), (distance 7,40 lengths, betting 10/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) In view of the performance of FRENCH BOLT (K Matsunyane), (distance 8,40 lengths, betting 25/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the performance of SUNSET RIOT (C Habib), (distance 8,80 lengths, betting 3/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) In view of the performance of VULCANITE (J R Syster), (distance 24,25 lengths, betting 66/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) ARGO ALLEY (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) STREWN SKY was ridden by Apprentice M Mbuto, who weighed out at 50,1kg, only claiming 2kg of his 4kg apprentice allowance as declared (declared 23 July 2025 at 09H19).
b) VULCANITE was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 26 July 2025 at 14H41).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:

THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) GRAND CRESCENDO lame right front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. GRAND CRESCENDO is required to perform a gallop to the satisfaction of the NHA veterinary department prior to his next engagement. Trainer C Dawson advised (MB).
b) FRENCH BOLT mild post race distress.
c) SUNSET RIOT examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
d) VULCANITE not striding out right hind.
e) STREWN SKY brush wound right hind.
