THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The saddles fitted to KING'S QUEST (A Domeyer) and MASTER OF PARIS (G Wright) were re-fitted at the start. b) EXPRESS YOURSELF (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) An Inquiry will be opened into the reason EXPRESS YOURSELF (C Orffer), AFRIQUE (JP van der Merwe), KING'S QUEST (A Domeyer) and WAR CHARIOT (C Murray) suffered varying degrees of interference leaving the 1500m. b) In view of the performance of WAR CHARIOT (C Murray), which over raced in the early stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey G Lerena reported that GRAN CANARIA did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey S Veale reported that he felt something amiss with SHOW OFF and he eased this gelding out of the race from the 150m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on MASTER OF PARIS, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, which resulted in a change of Rider. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00. f) AFRIQUE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer G Woodruff, acting on behalf of Trainer L Woodruff, was advised.
