During the loading process RUSSIAN DOLL (S Hlengwa) and RIDE ON (C Murray) became restless in the stalls. These mares were released from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. This caused a delay to the start of the race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RUSSIAN DOLL (S Hlengwa) and RIDE ON (C Murray) rushed the front gates, were released from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) RIDE ON (C Murray) stood, losing 6 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the performance of RIDE ON (C Murray) which stood losing many lengths, raced detached from the field throughout and was not persevered with, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this mare is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer R Klaasen will be advised. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to RIDE ON (C Murray), this mare's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 31.07.2025 to the 06.08.2025. RIDE ON may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer R Klaasen will be advised. c) SOHOT SOWHAT was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 12h48 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer Woodruff was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 13h00 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently SOHOT SOWHAT was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 13h23, 9/10 in the betting). d) RUSSIAN DOLL (S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts was advised (SP).
