THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LUCRETIUS (C Zackey) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) After having been encouraged forward in the early stages, PORFIRIO (*M Mbuto) commenced to over-race in the early and middle stages and as a result raced in advance of the field. b) At the 150m, MOHANDAS (*D Pillay) was steadied out away from the heels of PORFIRIO (*M Mbuto) which had come to the end of its run. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that LUCRETIUS took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performances of MISSISSIPPI SPICE (R Venniker) (11.55 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) and MOHANDAS (*D Pillay) (6.65 lengths, 28/10 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Trainer Y Singh acting on behalf of Trainer M Pandaram was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate THAMBI against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer Y Singh acting on behalf of Trainer M Pandaram signed an admission of guilt and a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. f) TEATIME TIPPLE (A Mgudlwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
