THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TEXAS RED (C Murray) and BACCHUS (J Gates) were restless in the stalls. b) MELECH (C Zackey) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) TRUTH (G Lerena) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) At approximately the 800m, TRUTH (G Lerena) was carried out marginally by BACCHUS (J Gates), which shifted out to avoid running onto the heels of TEXAS RED (C Murray), which rolled out. c) In view of the performance of BACCHUS (J Gates), (distance 11,65 lengths, betting 5/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey C Murray reported that he felt something amiss with TEXAS RED in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) ARGO ALLEY (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
