THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEEN OF JAZZ (*S Valjalo) was stubborn loading. b) FUTURE OF ENERGY (*J Botes) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) GLOBAL BANKER (*N Nastili) jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h40) b) QUEEN OF JAZZ (*S Valjalo) was bumped outwards slightly by ABOVE THE HORIZON (L Mxothwa), which was pulling hard and shifted outwards slightly at the 1200m. c) POTENT CAPTAIN (MK Katjedi) was hanging out badly from the 400m and had to steady momentarily at the 100m off the heels of GOLDEN GREY (S Khumalo), which shifted outwards away from the crop from the 200m. Jockey S Khumalo appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mount timeously in similar circumstances. d) Jockey J Gates appeared before the Board and was advised not to use his crop when his mount is out of contention for a place. Jockey Gates was further warned that should he behave in a similar manner in future engagements, a sanction might be imposed. e) Apprentice S Valjalo (QUEEN OF JAZZ) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. f) GOLDEN GREY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
