THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EVIES FIRST (C Little) stumbled leaving the stalls, losing one length. b) GIMME'S LADDIE (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SYMBOL OF LOVE recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. (Advised 14h43) Trainer E Kaknis was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) SPEED RACER (*J Botes), which was hanging in from the 400m, had to steady momentarily on the outside of USA'S HOPE (C Zackey), which shifted out slightly away from the crop at approximately the 100m. c) DUBAI HILLS (S Khumalo) was switched outwards to obtain clear running at approximately the 300m. d) Apprentices VS Ramdhonee (MHLABENI) and *B Soodoo (EYJAFJALLAJOKULL) rode satisfactory qualifying rides. e) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of DUBAI HILLS he misused his crop by striking his mount more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. f) DUBAI HILLS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
