THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PURPLE FLOWER (*G Dookhit) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) As the start was effected, PURPLE FLOWER (*G Dookhit), UBUKHWEBEZANA (S Veale), POURSOMESUGARONME (R Venniker) and HAPPY FORTUNE (A Mgudlwa) suffered varying degrees of interference when awkwardly placed on the outside of BLOWIN IN THE WIND (M Yeni) which jumped outwards sharply leaving the starting stalls. As a result, POURSOMESUGARONME (R Venniker) was steadied and lost position. Thereafter, BLOWIN IN THE WIND (M Yeni) commenced to hang out around the turn. b) BLOWIN IN THE WIND (M Yeni) is suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.5 and until such time it proves tractable jumping on a straight course with horses on either side of it, out of the starting stalls on the dates of three consecutive race meetings. Trainer S Ngcobo will be advised. In assessing this decision, the Stewards gave careful regard to the consequences of BLOWIN IN THE WIND's racing manners at the commencement of the event and that the majority of the field had been unduly affected at the start. c) In view of the performance of SCHOOL POLICY (S Moodley) (7.95 lengths, 7/2 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) JAZZ CAFE (T Godden), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R Hill was advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) BLOWIN IN THE WIND raced without blinkers (advised 04.08.25/15h25). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
