THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) DINERO (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading and slow into stride.
b) GREY WARRIOR (S Khumalo) was restless in the stalls.
c) MONOCLE (*N Nastili) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
d) GLIMMER OF LIGHT (M Yeni) jumped outwards and was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h16)
b) Apprentice N Nastili briefly lost his right-side stirrup iron when MONOCLE jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
c) Leaving the 400m BRIGHT FUTURE (W Agrella) was carried outwards by STAND UP (J Gates), which shifted out away from the crop. Consequently, at approximately the 300m, BRIGHT FUTURE (W Agrella) and STAND UP (J Gates) made contact on numerous occasions. Thereafter, approaching the 150m, BRIGHT FUTURE (W Agrella) was steadied when tightened for galloping room between PIBE DE ORO (L Mxothwa), which shifted inwards marginally away from the crop and STAND UP (J Gates), which continued to shift outwards.
Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of STAND UP he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BRIGHT FUTURE leaving the 400m. Jockey J Gates signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 21/08/2025 to 27/08/2025, both dates inclusive)
d) EXPLOSIVE GIFT (C Habib) was hanging out from the 350m.
e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DINERO (X Ndlovu), Trainer E Kaknis will be advised to have this horse re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
f) BRIGHT FUTURE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised. (LM)
g) STAND UP, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised. (LM)
