THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TRILLION DREAMS (W Agrella) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) DESERT CLOUD recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. (12h45) This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (13h18)
b) Jockey M Yeni (DESERT CLOUD) briefly lost his right-side stirrup iron shortly after the start.
c) Shortly after the start, BUDDELJA (C Habib) and TRILLION DREAMS (W Agrella) were buffeted when awkwardly placed between SECRET CHOICE (S Khumalo), which jumped sharply outwards and MIDNIGHT MUSIC (C Maujean), which jumped inwards sharply.
d) DESERT CLOUD (M Yeni), which was hanging outwards from 300m, was corrected and directed inwards at approximately the 100m.
e) BUDDELJA was hanging in from the 300m and was abruptly corrected by Jockey C Habib pulling hard on his left side rein shortly before the finish line. Jockey C Habib appeared before the Board and was advised not to pull on his mount's mouth in such an abrupt manner in future engagements.
f) Jockey S Khumalo reported that SECRET CHOICE did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
The Stipendiary Board has exercised the provisions of Rule 49.7, and this filly is suspended pending a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next racing engagement. Trainer AC Greeff will be advised.
g) PENNY'S WORLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised. (LM)
